H. E. Iván Duque Márquez
President Ivan Duque is a lawyer from Sergio Arboleda University in Bogota. He also holds an LLM in International Economic Law from American University and a master’s in Public Policy Management from Georgetown University.
President Duque began his professional career in 1999 as a consultant in the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) and then served as an advisor in the Ministry of Finance during the administration of former President Andres Pastrana. Subsequently, he worked at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) from 2001 until 2013, where he was the Chief Advisor in the Executive Board for Colombia, Peru and Ecuador, and was the youngest Chief of the Division of Culture, Creativity and Solidarity.
President Duque additionally served as International Advisor during the administration of former President Álvaro Uribe Velez. Between 2010 and 2011, he was Advisor in the United Nations Panel of Investigation in the Mavi Marmara incident between Israel and Turkey. Afterward, he returned to Colombia to serve as Senator where he was honored for two consecutive years as the best Senator of Colombia.
